You can use the more common earlier headlight switch in your late van but you should add an inline fuse to a wire by the switch.
Coming out of the switch wiring socket is a small Gray/Blue wire from pin 58b.
I would put an ATM fuse holder and 5 amp fuse there in that wire. and you might need the 8 pin socket.
